GID 36: Typography
In exchange for DSGD 99 from SJSU, I took GID 36 from Foothill College and chose the book cover project to put in my portfolio. We were allowed to redesign a book of our choice without the use of images.
Matilda is a book that I have read multiple times and felt that this was the best way to describe Matilda's hardships in the book. She encounters many difficulties, despite being only in kindergarten, and is neglected by her family. The type is based on Matilda's built up stress that comes from her parents ill treatment, which eventually gives her telekinesis. I used the imagery that something breaks or snaps inside of her due to pent up anger, in which allows Matilda to unleash her full potential to protect relationships most important to her.
